In short: the calculator runs in your browser and your numbers are not sent to us. We use no tracking cookies and no advertising networks; visits are counted with cookie-free statistics (Ahrefs Web Analytics). Our host processes technical access data to deliver the site.
Who is responsible
Nick Steiner, Zurich, Switzerland, e-mail ("we"). This policy follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/nDSG) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we process and why
Your calculator inputs. They are processed in your browser only. If you continue later, they are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device (key fire:v1:active); you can delete them with "Start over" or by clearing your browser data. A share link contains your inputs in the web address; anyone you send it to can read them.
Preferences. Your choice of Day or Night mode and of the input mode is stored in local storage on your device. It is not sent to us.
Technical access data. When you open a page, our hosting provider Cloudflare, Inc. processes the data your browser sends, such as IP address, date and time, page requested, referrer and browser type, to deliver the page, protect the site against attacks and keep it running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website. Cloudflare may process data outside Switzerland and the EU, including in the United States, under the safeguards it provides (standard contractual clauses and the Swiss-US and EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
E-mail. If you write to us, we use your message and address to answer, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Advertisements. Ad images are served from our own server. We do not use an ad network, cookies or tracking pixels. Links to advertisers carry campaign parameters (for example utm_source=myfireplan.ch) so the advertiser can count visits on their own site; after you click, the advertiser’s privacy policy applies.
Analytics. We count visits with Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., Singapore). A small script from analytics.ahrefs.com reports each page view: the page address, the referring site, browser and device type, screen size and the country derived from your IP address. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage and does not follow you across other websites. According to Ahrefs, IP addresses are not stored and the data is only kept as aggregated statistics, so we cannot identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read and how to improve them. Ahrefs may process the data outside Switzerland and the EU. Blocking the script (for example with a content blocker) does not affect how the site works.
Newsletter. Not active yet. When it starts, we will name the provider here and use double opt-in.
Cookies
myFIREplan.ch sets no cookies. Local storage, described above, stays on your device.
Your rights
You can ask for information about the personal data we hold about you, and for its correction or deletion, and you can object to processing. Write to . You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
Changes
We update this policy when our processing changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
